Paying attention to the sun. Being outside. Tracing tree shadows on the driveway. All of these things lend themselves to children underfoot with questions. I don’t need to “teach” them about time. They learn about moving in time through these explorations. They know when it is time to rest, eat, play, be joyful, sad, walk on, all by paying attention. Quite the contrary, I am learning from them.
Looking back on these photos taken about a month ago, I am keenly aware of how much less sun there is now. We have shifted to much more inside dwelling and the family is in countdown and preparation for the shortest day of the year celebration (Winter Solstice). Faith that "it” always comes back (tomorrow, as well as the warmth of a new spring) is another “sun” lesson that needs continuing human focus.
